Director, Research Collaborations

Washington, District of Columbia

The Director, Research Collaborations will provide leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of existing and new science programs in support of Breast Cancer Deadline 2020®. At its core, Breast Cancer Deadline 2020® is centered on an innovative, advocate-led, mission-driven approach of strategic summits, catalytic workshops and collaborative efforts with a multi-disciplinary and diverse group of stakeholders – collectively called the Artemis Project®. Through the Artemis Project®, NBCC challenges scientists and the public to look at breast cancer in new ways. Advocates and scientists work side-by-side to identify and answer the questions vital to ending breast cancer. Artemis Project® participants design and implement research plans, and interact through an infrastructure maintained by NBCC that allows the collaborations to thrive and progress rapidly.

The Director, Research Collaborations will leverage general problem-solving skills to identify key issues/questions and develop a work plan for each project, including project scope, timeline, specific analyses to be completed, individual responsibilities, etc. The individual will help to develop and implement specific work plans on research and analysis designed at Artemis Project® meetings, in collaboration with Artemis Project® advocates and scientists, and coordinate work of cross-departmental teams as well as teams of scientists and advocates to ensure project objectives are achieved and timelines are met. The Director oversees the planning and facilitation of all Artemis Project® meetings; liaises with vendors, consultants and participants; coordinates logistics; and attends all meetings. The individual also monitors and analyzes issues relevant to all research collaborations, identifies prospective participants, and creates and delivers presentations that effectively communicate key project findings and recommendations for presentation to various audiences.
