A former Department of Defense employee, Ruth was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1991. She is co-founder, past president and current Vice President of the Georgia Breast Cancer Coalition Fund. Ruth has served on the National Breast Cancer Coalition Board of Directors since 1995. She is the Secretary of NBCC’s Board of Directors and former Chair of the Nominating Committee. Ruth is a graduate of Project LEAD and Clinical Trials. She represented NBCC as a patient advocate at three Era of Hope Conferences and is an active advocate at the state level teaching advocacy and testifying before the Georgia General Assembly. She remains committed to advancing women’s health issues. In recognition of her advocacy, Ruth is a recipient of the WXIA-TV Community Service Award and the Women’s United Women’s Health and Well-Being Advocacy Award.
