NBCC Wins Bronze 2011 EXCEL Award for Excellence in Web Redesign

Washington, D.C., June 1, 2011Tonight the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) will take home an EXCEL Award recognizing the cutting-edge innovation and excellence demonstrated in its September 2010 website redesign, which launched BreastCancerDeadline2020.org. NBCC’s Breast Cancer Deadline 2020® is a strategic plan of action that calls for the end of breast cancer by January 1, 2020.

The award to NBCC, made by the Association Media and Publishing as part of its 31st Annual EXCEL Awards, follows a competitive selection process from more than 1,100 entries. Winners were chosen for displaying exemplary work in editorial, design, advertising and marketing, online publishing, mobile applications, digital editions and electronic newsletter categories. NBCC won the Bronze award in its category, Website Redesign.

"This win is a spectacular show of collaboration between our leadership, our branding agency—Advertising for Humanity, and our online marketing agency—Beaconfire," said Fran Visco, NBCC’s President. "Not only did they help reposition and rebrand our organization, but they helped us redesign our website in just two months. We are delighted to share this award with them."

"NBCC is an inspiring organization because they set deadlines, then they do what it takes to meets them. We had a brilliant team working under a strict deadline to launch this new website before Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Everything you could ask for on a project like this happened—creative inspiration, aligning the talents of the team to the purpose at hand, and taking best advantage of the power of technology for the innovative voting campaign and spreading the work through pass along emails and Facebook integration," said Michael Cervino, Principal Consultant and Co-Founder of Beaconfire. "We couldn’t be more pleased with this award and are proud of our partnership with NBCC."

"From a request to improve a logo to a new website that launched a movement to end breast cancer by the end of the decade, and now an award that honors the sophistication of that vision—that’s the power of human innovation and collaboration coming together to be great. We are honored to be part of that teamwork and congratulate NBCC on its recognition," said Dan Pallotta, President and Chief Humanity Officer for Advertising for Humanity.

"Congratulations to the 31st Annual EXCEL Award winners," said Amy Lestition, CAE, Association Media & Publishing Executive Director.
