About 40,000 women and
450 men die from breast cancer
each year in the United States.
Despite significant attention and resources directed at the disease, breast cancer continues to take a toll in the US and globally. It is the second leading cause of cancer death for women in the United States, after lung cancer. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) estimates that approximately 39,970 women and 450 men in the US will die from the disease in 2011. That is about 110 deaths every day.
