2013 Project LEAD Institute

The Project LEAD Institute is a a five-day intensive science course for breast cancer advocates covering the basics of cancer biology, genetics, epidemiology, research design and advocacy.  The course provides a foundation of scientific knowledge upon which participants can strengthen and empower themselves as activists.  Taught by renowed research faculty, this is a unique opportunity for those interested in learning more about working as an NBCC research advocate.

Application period is now open.  The application deadline is May 24, 2013.

Applicants must have complete and submit the online application, essay questions, and submit 2 letters of reference by the application deadline to be considered for acceptance to the course.

Tuition is free to NBCC members who are accepted to the course, and includes all workshop materials and meals for five days.  Applicants can also apply for need-based scholarships to assit with lodging and travel expenses.  Accepted participants must attend the entire course

Accepted attendees not seeking a scholarship will be able to make hotel reservations at the Estancia La Jolla Hotel at the special group rate of $209 per night plus taxes.
