Dr. Victoria Seewaldt, MD, Director of the Breast Cancer Prevention Program at Duke University's Women's Wellness Clinic, will present a webinar examining the step-wise model of cancer, which assumes that cancer is the result of many mutations that occur one after another. There is now emerging evidence that not all cancers arise step-wise. It is proposed that most cancers progress from normal to hyperplasia to atypia to ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) to invasive cancers, however, many triple-negative breast cancers do not appear to have surrounding DCIS. In this webinar alternatives to the step-wise model will be considered.
