As you know, NBCC initiated the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act and it remains one of our highest legislative priorities this year. This legislation will waive the 24 month waiting period for Medicare eligibility and the 5 month waiting period for Social Security Disability Insurance benefits for individuals with Metastatic Breast Cancer.

On April 9, Representatives Peter King (R-NY) and Kathy Castor (D-FL) introduced H.R. 2178, the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care ActThanks to NBCC's outstanding advocates, the bill currently has 121 cosponsors. On May 8, Senators Martha McSally (R-AZ) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) introduced S. 1374, the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act. Currently there are 10 cosponsors on the bill.

In an effort to demonstrate to Members of Congress the broad support for this bill, we ask that you request to have your organization add its name to the “sign-on” letter urging Congress to enact this bill as soon as possible. The DEADLINE for signing on is Friday October 18, 2019.
