WE NEED YOU TO CONTACT YOUR SENATORS TODAY! ASK THEM TO SUPPORT YOU BY VOTING AGAINST REPEAL OF THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT.
Senate Republicans are working hard to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Already the Senate has approved the budget, which is the first step in repealing the ACA. Senate Democrats offered several proposals that could impact women and men with, and at risk of breast cancer if the repeal occurs, including:
· Lowering prescription drug costs
· Preexisting condition guarantee (preventing ACA repeal from eliminating the law’s protection for those with preexisting conditions)
· Protecting women’s health environment (including a measure that ensures women aren’t charged more for their insurance because of their gender)
· Ensuring rural hospitals stay open (preventing rural hospitals and health care providers from being weakened under repeal)
These proposals were voted on, and defeated by the Republican majority.
We don’t know a specific timeline, but we know next steps may move quickly. For now, there is still time for us to use our voices! Repealing the ACA will take health insurance away from millions of Americans and increase health care premiums for millions more. Women and men with and at risk of breast cancer need care not chaos!
Make your voice heard and contact your US Senators and ask them to vote against any ACA repeal measures. The Senators listed below must hear from our advocates. If your Senator supports the ACA, please thank them for their support.
