National Breast Cancer Coalition

The Deadline Changes Everything

Fran Visco, JD | President, National Breast Cancer Coalition

Date: May 3, 2014 | Run Time: 30:33 | Course Level: Beginner

In 1991, a collection of breast cancer activists had a new idea; to form a coalition of organizations that would focus on changing the systems of research and access to care, and engaging in political action around breast cancer. These activists invited organizations across the country to Washington, DC to discuss this radical concept. And with that, the National  Breast Cancer Coalition was born.

You will learn:

  • How NBCC came to be.
  • The success that NBCC attained (such as the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program) and the challenges that were overcome to achieve that success.
  • What advocates can do to make NBCC even more successful as we work toward Breast Cancer Deadline 2020®.
